OAO Pavlovsky Avtobus, formerly the Pavlovo bus plant, one of the major companies of the motor industry of Russia which occupies the leading positions in the bus production industry. The history of the company goes back over 65 years ago. During this time the plant assembly lines saw four generations of medium size vehicles (7 m) with the brand mark PAZ: PAZ-651, PAZ-652, PAZ-672, PAZ-3205. From the moment of production of PAZ-3205 model in 1989 more than 30 modifications of the bus have been developed for various operation purposes and climate conditions. Over 10 of them are produced in lots. The production output during the recent time reached 7 500 — 8 500 buses per year. The vehicles are reliable in operation, universal in their design, multi-functional, and successfully used for passenger transportation in the rural areas and in the city as line taxies. On July 30, 1998 the company assemble lines left 50 000th bus with the PAZ brand mark.
Currently a production of big city buses of a new generation have been launched PAZ-5272 model mounted on KamAZ chassis. The company is developing a new long distance medium class bus PAZ-4230 Avrora.
The new buses have been awarded with a special prize at the Moscow International Motor Saloon-99.
The completion of the progressing modernisation of the production facilities carried out in 2 stages will allow eventually to produce 500 buses of the new models per year at the first stage and 2 000 buses at the second one.
The new company management is actively introducing modern management techniques, radically changing their marketing, quality and production strategies which will ensure success and stability of the company operation in the Russian and international markets.
