Nizhny Novgorod Trade Fair of the day is one of the largest exhibition centers of Russia that has made Nizhny Novgorod famous not only in Russia but also abroad. It is annually attended by wellknown industrialists from Europe, America and Asia.

Large-scale bargains are made here and about 70 exhibitions and fairs are held annually that are attended by half a million of visitors. Among the high-rank visitors of the fair there was Mikhail Gorbachev, Boris Eltsin and Vladimir Putin, «Iron lady» Margaret Thatcher, Mstislav Rostropovich, the members of the British Royal family, the head of the Russian Imperial house, Queen of the Nethelands Beatrix, leading Russian and foreign politicians, cultural workers and scientists, official delegations of China, the Netherlands, Japan, Italy and India.

The revival of Nizhny Novgorod Trade Fair began in 1990. The initiative of the regional and city administrations was supported by the largest Nizhny Novgorod enterprises, banks, insurance companies, media-groups which became the founders of Nizhegorodskaya Yarmarka All-Russian Joint-Stock Company. Nizhegorodskaya Yarmarka is a closed joint-stock company the voting block of shares of which belongs to the state.

Nizhny Novgorod Trade Fair is a modern exhibition center that has the infrastructure necessary to hold exhibitions, congresses and conferences at the international level. The territory of the fair is 55,000 square meters. It has six exhibitions pavilions, five conference halls, including splendid Coatof- Arms Hall that welcomes high-ranking visitors.

In 2005 the status of a founder of UFI was returned to the fair, and now all the exhibition projects of the fair meet the world standards of the exhibition business. Nizhny Novgorod Trade Fair is the only Russian exhibition center that is a founder of UFI. Moreover, Nizhny Novgorod Trade Fair is the only Russian exhibition center that is a member of UFI in two nominations: as an exhibition center of the world class and as an organizer of fairs that meet the world standards. Thirdly, Nizhny Novgorod Trade Fair is the only Russian exhibition center that has three votes in UFI.

Fourthly, Valery Barulin, the General Director of Nizhny Novgorod Trade Fair, has been nominated by the Presidium of All-Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs to the Board of UFI as a representative of regional exhibitiocenters.

Nizhny Novgorod Trade Fair persistently explors the international exhibition market, contributing to the integration of the region into the world economy. The Fair has held national fairs of Great Britain, Finland, Bulgaria, India and African countries.
