The Swedish Center in Nizhny Novgorod is an outcome of TEMPUS Sweden, Yonchping University and Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University.

The Swedish Center was officially opened on June 13, 2001 in the premises of the Nizhny Novgorod Technical University. Occupying over 200 sq. m. of space it holds a hall-library, exhibition and presentation hall, conference room, an office and auxiliary rooms.

The Swedish Center was set up with a goal to establish and develop links between Sweden and Nizhny Novgorod in the area of business, education and culture. It is equipped with computers, required office facilities and has an Internet access.

The Center has a data base of Swedish businesses and organizations, which is a unique asset for Nizhny Novgorod.

The Swedish Center is actively encouraging a consolidation of business links between Scandinavia and the Nizhny Novgorod region, it arranged «Sweden Business Days Forum in Nizhny Novgorod» with participation of over 40 major Swedish companies, a business-section of International Forum «Twin Cities and Partners», took part in the «Great Rivers» Forum, Book Fair and arranged visits of managing staff of «Swenska Handelsbanken», IKEA furniture company and other firm to our city.

The Swedish Center offers to Russian and Swedish companies and individuals the following services:

— marketing research in Russia and abroad;
— seeking for business partners, mediating in business negotiations;
— interpreting and translation;
— letting premises for exhibitions, conferences and seminars;
— arranging of business, cultural and educational seminars, etc;
— visa support for travel to Sweden;
— placing information in Internet;
— searching for data on Swedish companies and organizations.

Since May 31, 2002 the Swedish Club has been functioning at the Center that associates businessmen, students, those who are interested in co-operation with Sweden and all who are not indifferent to the Swedish culture and its language.
