The Tchkalovskii Vinodeltchaskii Zavod (Тchkalov Distillery) was founded on June 1, 1967 as a merger with a canned food factory.
Till 1992 the distillery was focused on production of wine products. In 1992 the distillery was re-organised in Balzam close joint-stock company. Property form - private.
ZAO Balzam is operating with a use of modern technologies of vodka and liqueur production. The production started in 1992. In addition to traditional vodka's brands - Stolytchnaya, Russkaya and Extra, the company personnel in co-operation with the All Russia Institute of Food Biotechnology have developed special brands of vodkas - Tchkalovsk - Vancouver, Vasylyeva Sloboda.
The Thchkalovk - Vancouver special vodka is awarded a golden medal at the international exhibition AO Len-Expo in St. Petersburg, a silver medal at the international exhibition in Sotchi. The first grade diploma at the exhibition " Future of Russia" held in Nizhny Novgorod. The first grade diploma at the wine-tasting by the industry experts at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Nizhny Novgorod oblast. The special vodka Vasylyeva Sloboda is awarded a silver and a bronze medal at the international exhibition in Sotchi. The second grade diploma at the Nizhny Novgorod Fair in 1997. In addition to vodkas ZAO Balzam produces a range of liqueurs: Banana, Kiwi, Cherry, Peach, a range of sweet wines and it is a sole producer of the balsam Blagoveshenskii Monastery (Blagoveshenskii Monastery) in the Nizhny Novgorod oblast. The balsam has been highly assessed at the international exhibition Soud held in Sotchi, being awarded a golden medal for its outstanding quality.
