The Vetluga distillery was build by the tsar government in 1901, bearing the name of Vetluga Government Warehouse No 4 within the main administration of tax and excise on alcoholic drinks sales of the Ministry of Finance with the output capacity of 150 buckets per year ( the distillery reached the design performance in 1907).
Over the whole period of operation the distillery was focused on production of pure alcohol and hard drinks.
Since 1996 as per Ministry of Agricultural Products decree No 376 of December 27th 1996 the Vetluga distillery, as a state-owned firm, belongs to the Department of food and processing industry of the Ministry of Agricultural Products of the Russian Federation.

3. Maximum output capacity was reached in 1995 - 1. 551 000 dal.
4. In 1995 the firm started the reconstruction with an objective to bring the output capacity to 2 mln dal\p.a. of alcohol drinks. The estimated costs of the first stage of reconstruction - 1. 8 mln roubles in prices of 1991. 50 % of the finance already invested.
The Vetluga distillery is operating under modern technologies for production of vodkas and liqueur drinks. It is one of the few Russian distilleries which uses pure well water, ecology pure wild growing raw materials, herbs and roots supplied from the Northern region of the European part of Russia.
The best consumer demand is displayed for vodkas - Pshenitchnaya, Stolytchnaya, Russkaya, nastoykas - Ryabina Na Konyake, Klukvennaya, Brusnitchnaya, an drink - Uralsky Dessertny, nalivkas - Malinobaya, Tchernosmorodinovaya, bitter hard drinks - Kubanskaya, Zubrovka, Zveroboy, liqueurs - Kofeyny, Limonny.
In 1995 a number of drinks developed by the distillery own specialists gained high demand: Vetal special vodka, Ryabinovy liqueur, Zalesye dessert drink, Lesnoy Buket sweet nastoyka.
