The distillery founded in 1940 was the first in the USSR equipped with home-made acrophores developed by Prof. A. Frolov-Bagreyev with champagne production according to the procedure developed by Prof. G. Agabalyanz. The distillery was also the first testing ground for the industrial continuous champagne wines production in the world practice.
Traditionally the distillery wines are distinguished over years by their high quality which were honoured by numerous diplomas and medals awarded to the wine-makers at the international wine competitions:
In March 1993 the distillery was reorganised in AOOT Nizhny Novgorod Champagne Wines Distillery, an open joint-stock company.
The traditions rooted in the past are successfully maintained by the company wine-makers of today.
In 1995 using the new original technologies the distillery made new brands of champagne: Dvoryanskoye, Knyaz Lev Galizin. The company output is about 13m bottles of champagne wines p.a., including 1m bottles made for exports.
