Volga TV Company is the first independent commercial TV company in Nizhny Novgorod with daily programmes and with its own telecasting channel - it has been on the air since 1992. A potential audience - c. 3 mln. viewers, the range of telecasting - over 100 km.
The programme schedule is based on news releases. Ten daily News issues, " Sred' Bela Dniya" (In Broad Daylight) and "Gorod and Gorozhani" (City and Residents) and other programmes "keep the hand on the pulse of Nizhny Novgorod". On channel 7 in non-stop mode gives a new portion of the latest information about all events (political, civil, cultural, religious, sport, etc.) happening in the city.
On Sundays at 8 p.m "Poslesloviye" (Afterword) programme is released, - a summary of the week news. The presenter - Alexander Rezontov. The director of the information telecasting Alexander Rezontov is one of the most popular and influential journalists in Nizhny Novgorod, a winner of numerous prizes of All-Russia completions and festivals, in addition, he is one of the few TV journalist awarded with prizes originated in Nizhny Novgorod.
A high rating among the sports fans has the Sort-Time programme - the only programme in Nizhny Novgorod devoted to this topic, it comes on the air on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 7.30 p.m. Once a fortnight on Sundays the author and presenter of the Sport-Time programme Vladimir Smirnov makes the Sport-Bar programme where the sport celebrities are invited to. Volga TV Company is one of the founders the National Telecasters Association of Russia (NTA) which includes over 300 state-owned and commercial TV companies and radio channels of the country and of the Russian Association of Regional TV Companies (RART). According to the results of the competition held by the National Telecasters Association, Volga TV Company is awarded the title " the Best TV Company of 1999".
