The Chemical and Pharmaceutical Factory was founded in Nizhny Novgorod in 1919. The factory was focused on production of finished pharmaceuticals including galena production. Each year the factory would acquire more advanced machinery and build up its output.

On May 16, 1994 the factory was reorganised in a open joint-stock company — Nizhny Novgorod Chemical and Pharmaceutical Factory. Today AO Nizhpharm has its own production of aluminium tubes, paperboard containers, printing, gelatin capsules, it has modern automatic lines for packing liniments in tubes and tins, automatic lines for loop packing of suppostories.

The basic policy of AO Nizhpharm is high quality products at the lowest prices. AO Nizhpharm makes every effort to extend its range of offered products by increasing its own output and through barter transactions with other companies and firms.

In 1995 AO Nizhpharm developed and brought in the production new pharmaceuticals: hyniphurile liniments, fluorinephure, Ungapivene and others.
