Sormovo distillery was put into operation on April 22, 1970 to produce table strong and sweet wines. Sormovsky experimental distillery closed joint-stock company was set up in 1993 following reorganisation of Sormovo distillery. The company is now focused mainly on production of liquors and vodkas, soft drinks, Svetloyarskaya mineral water bottled from the well located on the company grounds. In 1988 a new Pepsy-Cola line was commissioned with foreign-made equipment and with output of 24, 000 bottles per hour.

The range of drinks and the annual output is as following: wine — 17, 000 dl, vodka — 2, 304, 000 dl, nastoyka-liquor — 92, 000 dl, soft drinks— 100, 000 dl, mineral water — 21, 000 dl.

The distillery brought in the production of Koupez, a special vodka, with the output of 124 000 dl in 1995. A new technology of Komersant vodka is recently developed which will be produced soon.
