THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY OF NIZHNY NOVGOROD PROVINCE
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Nizhny Novgorod province (TPP NO) is an independent, non-profit making organisation. Its operation is regulated by the Federal Law on the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, by the RF President Decree on the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, the Articles of Association of the Camber of the Russian Federation and the Articles of Association the Camber of Nizhny Novgorod province.
Based on the above regulations, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Nizhny Novgorod province founded in June 1994 following the re-organisation of the Verkhne -Volzhskaya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, carries out the following activities:
— arrangements of business meetings, negotiations of the Nizhny Novgorod business people with Russian and foreign companies, running conferences, seminars on issues of foreign economic relations, marketing, etc;
— services in evaluation of market value of all types of real estate, operating enterprises and other types of industrial production means, re-evaluation of the main assets;
— evaluation of items of intellectual property and protection of copy rights on innovations, industrial specimens, trade marks, software;
— arrangements and running of exhibitions in Russia and abroad;
— information on international and foreign exhibitions in RF and on Russian exhibitions abroad;
— assistance in contacts development of Nizhny Novgorod business people with foreign partners by providing of information exchange;
— data support for users of business information in Russia and abroad;
— assistance in implementation of business proposals and projects;
— common activities of goods quality and quantity survey;
— expert examinations and registration of force majeur circumstances;
— identification of bar codes of export-import goods;
— identification of customs value of goods;
— expert — examination and issue of certificates of origin of goods and attesting of foreign trade documents;
— substantial data base on prospective business partners, commercials offers of Russian and foreign partners;
— translation of technical documentation and attesting of translation authenticity;
— consulting services;
— protection and advocacy of interests of the Chamber members at all levels of the state power;
— court of arbitration;
— keeping records on companies with unreliable reputation.
Implementation of the mentioned tasks is carried out by structures of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Nizhny Novgorod province which include:
— administration of activities with the Chamber members;
— foreign relations service;
— department of patents and property expert survey;
— department of exhibitions;
— department of information and analysis;
— legal department;
— certification department;
— NIZHEGORODEXPERTIZA company.
The total staff number is 90 — 100 employees, the Chamber board of directors, a senior managing body over a period between general meetings, comprises 21 representatives nominated from the province and the city administration, business associations, industrialists, organisations supporting the progress of economic reforms, other government and public establishments.
The local administration regards the Chamber of Commerce and Industry as one of the major tools to extend the foreign economic activities, to develop long-term partner links with countries of near and far abroad targeted on mutual benefit. Thus, in 1996 in co-operation with the city and province administration the Chamber has run 5 seminars and conferences with participation of foreign businessmen, 6 delegation groups have been sent to take part in business meetings abroad, an exhibition has been arranged in Egypt. The Chamber took part in procedure of reception of 21 economic missions from near and far abroad. To-day the Chamber of Commerce and Industry has set up and maintains continuos contacts, including data exchange, with a wide range of chambers from Egypt, Poland, the Baltic states and Central Asia, China, Yugoslavia, Slovakia, Denmark and many others.
In 1996 the Chamber of Commerce and Industry was involved in selection of candidates for placements abroad within TACIS and Morozov projects.
TPP NO takes it as essential to develop further inter-regional and international links, to create in the province a friendly business environment, to use various forms of co-operation, including participation in the international system of chambers for business data support.
