In 1918 the enterprise was given the name “Dvigatel Revolutsii (Engine of Revolution)” and under this name it was known all over the world up to 1993, when according to the State Programme for privatization it was renamed to Joint Stock Company RUMO.

RUMO is a recognised Russian leader among manufacturers of medium-speed diesel engines and is the only enterprise with in the former USSR' manufacturing gas engine driven compressors.

At present, RUMO’s production area makes 600 thousand square meters complete with modern equipment. More than 4000 employees are engaged in the company.

The company foundry ensures complete production cycle beginning with preparation of blend and ending with finished products, weighing from 200 grams to 30 tons.

The enterprise is equipped, with unique process lines to machine crankshafts.

At the present time J.S.C. RUMO produces the following equipment:
— diesel and gas engine driven electric sets of 220-1000 kW;
— marine main diesel engines and geared diesel set of 330-1150 kW;
— marine summarizing reduction gears 2x2600 kW;
— gas engine compressors of 1100 - 2200 kW;
— industrial cooling machines with refrigerating capacity of 130 kW;
— high-pressure pumps of 125-160 kW;
— packaged boilers for mini-boiler rooms, type KBa-0,16 Ãí;
— equipment for automobile gas-filling compressor stations.

RUMO’s production is characterized, by a high degree of reliability as demonstrated by the trouble free operation of the power-generating equipment in more than 70 countries worldwide. The company has after-sale services and the highly skilled specialists are ready to provide a useful guide for installation, start-up and initial operation, repair, maintenance and personnel training.

Maintaining close contacts with research institutes combined, with efforts of highly skilled designers and process engineers, J.S.C. RUMO is constantly developing and mastering new promising projects. For expansion of diesel engines production RUMO has procured in 1994 a license from MAN B&W for manufacture of diesel engines of 600-4000 kW intended for use as a part of marine propulsion units and stationary diesel electric sets.

To order of Russian J.S.C. “Gasprom” RUMO in cooperation with CATERPILLAR has began development of the ÃÏÀ-3500 separable compressor unit.
