The Sormovsky distillery was put into operation on April 22 1970. On December 23 1996 it was re-organised into a close joint-stock company (ZAO) EVZ Sormovsky focused on production of table, sweet, dessert wines, wine drinks, hard drinks, Svetloyarskaya mineral water ( the mineral water well is located on the territory of the company).
The firm progress is provided by modernisation of technologies, brining in new facilities, expanding of the range of products and improving their quality. In 1997 ZAO EVZ Sormovsky together with VNII PBT (Moscow) developed new types of vodkas: Magistral, Efimeridy, Mezenat, Khokhlomskye Uzory. Jointly with a Dutch company a special soft vodka Vlek is developed and produced. All brands of vodkas are certified.
The Medical Centre Committee at the RF President Administration awarded a diploma to Kupez special vodka, Kommersant, Vlek and Magistral vodkas are issued certificates by the above centre.
ZAO EVZ Sormovsky is awarded with the Diploma of Honour for participation in exhibition the Russian Food Stuffs - 97.
At present to preserve its sector in the market of alcohol drinks the technical service of the company is developing new brands of vodkas and wine drinks.
